Google Pixel 2, XL 2 and three to include Snapdragon 835 processor

Google is planning to introduce three Pixel phones this year, unlike the two that it launched last year, in a bid to take on the iPhone 8 and the Galaxy S8. Although there is no official information from Google about these phones, rumours are that they will be called Pixel 2, Pixel XL 2 and, this is a surprise, the Pixel 3. Of these, the Pixel Xl 2 and Pixel 2 will be direct successors of the last year's Pixel phones. The Pixel 3, meanwhile, could be something entirely different or possibly a special-edition phone.
Some more information about the next Pixel phone has also come from Android Open Source Project. This new info hints that the Pixel 2017 will be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 835 processor. Apparently, this processor will be used in all three Pixel variants. Last year the Pixel and the Pixel XL launched with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821.
If this is indeed the case, Pixel 2, Pixel XL 2 and Pixel 3 will give a very tough competition to the recently-announced Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus, Xiaomi Mi 6, and possibly the upcoming OnePlus 5. All these phones use Snapdragon 835 although the galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus are also available in Exynos variant.
Out of the three Pixel phones, Pixel 2 (codename Walleye) and Pixel XL 2 (codename Muskie) are going to be second-generations devices, while on the other hand, Pixel 3 which is codenamed Taimen will be a third-generation phone. The Pixel 3 is also likely to be the most expensive of the three devices. The upcoming Pixel phones are expected to sport a whole new look and display compared to the last year's Pixel devices.
Other rumours about the Google smartphones - Pixel XL 2 and Pixel 2 will come packed with an upgraded design detail. The phones are expected to boast a waterproof body and premium metallic finish. While on the other hand, the high-end Pixel 3 will sport a much bigger display screen as compared to the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2.
Not only this, the upcoming Pixel phones are expected to feature a much-improved hardware and camera set up as well. No further details about the specifications have been revealed so far. Although you must remember that the Pixel phones last year came with a very good camera -- possibly the best camera in a phone ever -- and hence you must expect the new Pixels to at least match or surpass them. Last year's Pixel phones were manufactured by HTC but for now it is not clear who is going to be Google's hardware partner for Pixel phones in 2017. Earlier reports hinted that several smartphone vendors, including HTC, LG, Coolpad, and TCL, were competing win the contract for manufacturing 2017 Pixel phones.
