Another day. Another batch of iPhone 8 leaks and rumors. Twitter user Benjamin Geskin has posted images online of what seems to be an iPhone 8 dummy unit.
The image shows a design reminiscent of the Apple Watch with two layers of glass sandwiched between a stainless steel frame. The dummy, which the tipster claims is a CNC model from Foxconn, comes with the volume and ringer switch on the left and two coutouts - for the power button and SIM tray - on the right.
The dummy lacks a physical home button on the front and comes with a cutout for the rumoured vertical mounted dual camera setup on the back. This ties in well with several rumours floating about pointing towards Apple ditching the physical home button in the iPhone 8. The company is widely expected to embed the fingerprint sensor underneath the screen in order to free up space for the new display.
The new design looks remarkably similar to the first iPhone introduced by Apple way back in 2007 thanks to the chrome body and blackened bezels.
Apple is set to release three new iPhones in 2017. Updates to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in the shape of the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus will be accompanied by a 'halo' model called the iPhone 8/iPhone Edition which is set to commemorate the iPhone's tenth anniversary.
According to past rumours, the iPhone 8 will come with an OLED display, an Iris Scanner like the one found on the Samsung Galaxy S8, IP68 dust and water resistance, 3D cameras and a Smart Connector for accessories such as a VR headset.
