“The DeX Pad for the upcoming Samsung flagships will feature new design, which will allow the phones to be used as touchpads”
Samsung is all set to launch its next-gen Galaxy S series flagships at its pre-MWC event in Barcelona on February 25th. Ahead of the unveiling, the reliable gadget tipster Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) had leaked a couple of press renders of the upcoming Galaxy S9 and S9+. Now, the leakster has revealed the images of the next-gen Samsung ‘DeX Pad’ for the upcoming Galaxy S flagships.
Samsung originally introduced the DeX dock alongside the last year’s Galaxy S series smartphones. The device allows you to connect your Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy Note8 to a monitor, keyboard and mouse for a desktop experience powered by your phone. The leaked images reveal that the next-gen Galaxy DeX Pad will sport a much different and better design, as it will allow your Galaxy phone to be used as a touchpad.
The new design will dock the smartphone in a flat position to make it easier to use the handset’s display as a touchpad. The accessory will also come with a newly redesigned ventilation port. The photos show that the dock will arrive with a full-size HDMI port, two full-size USB ports and a USB Type-C port for power input. The only thing missing from the new dock is an Ethernet port.

As per the earlier reports, the new Samsung DeX Pad will come with backwards-compatibility with the previous Galaxy S and Note series smartphones. Just like its predecessor, the accessory will be sold separately.
The freshly leaked images also show the bottom part of the Samsung Galaxy S9 for the very first time. The photos reveal that the next-gen Galaxy S phone will flaunt a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is missing from several flagships launched recently. At the bottom-end, the handset will also get a USB Type-C port and a stereo speaker.
