Google Assistant coming soon to your non-Pixel smartphone

Google Assistant is no longer a Pixel exclusive, as we mentioned a few days ago. The changes are now officially taking effect with a handful of users from around the U.S. mentioning that the feature is now seen on their non-pixel devices as well. Multiple users across different smartphone brands are reporting the update, so it seems like Google has officially flipped the switch for the update. 

With the U.S. roll out now official, regions like the Australia, Canada, UK, and Germany (in German) will see the update over the coming weeks. It seems like the update will take up to 2-3 months to reflect on all devices around the world, so if you own a compatible Android device in India, the wait will be slightly longer. 

Google Assistant is an evolution of Google Now and allows you to get info on certain queries or functions that you want to perform. Using Assistant, customers can also control some IoT accessories, making this a comprehensive tool. 

Assistant was first spotted on Google Allo, with the Pixel smartphones subsequently getting the feature as well. It’s been a while since the Pixel handsets have enjoyed this particular feature, and it’s good to see that Google wants to share some of the love with the rest of the Android crowd.
