BB Merah Putih has officially revealed the BlackBerry Aurora in Indonesia, just a couple of weeks after the Keyone was announced by the company at the MWC. It seems like the device will remain an Indonesia exclusive for the first few months, which is quite disappointing.
As for the device itself, it’s made in Indonesia and is BlackBerry’s first handset to come with dual-SIM functionality on board. It’s clear thatBlackberry wants to focus heavily on the mid-ranged market segment with this one, especially since its high-end ambitions have taken a beating over the past few years.
The Aurora comes with a 5.5-inch HD (1280x720) display, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a 13MP rear camera. While the handset is targeted at the budget audiences, there’s no doubt that it will strike a chord with everyone given the right pricing. For now, the device will cost 34,99,000 Indonesia Rupiah or Rs 17,400 in the region, which puts it in the league of several other mid-ranged offerings.
I must say, for the price quoted here, the BlackBerry Aurora is certainly not a bad smartphone to own. One can only hope that the device makes its way to India soon.
