Just over a week ago, YouTube has completed the “Double Tap to Seek” function, which allows you to jump backwards or forwards 10 seconds in a video. Now follows the next update with which the period to be skipped can be specified more precisely. You have the choice between a jump in the time frame from 5 seconds to 60 seconds.
The new feature is probably once again familiar to all users and is quickly explained: By a double touch on the left or right side of a video you can jump in the appropriate direction and the fast forward or backward the current video for 10 seconds. For the average YouTube video, 10 seconds can be exactly matched, but now a more accurate adjustment of this period is possible.
With the update there is a new point in the settings with which the time period for the jump can now be precisely defined. The choice is 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 15 seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds or 60 seconds. Depending on whether you prefer longer or shorter videos, each of these settings can be appropriate for a user. An even bigger jump can be done with the search bar at the bottom.
This setting is of course not really comfortable, because if you look at longer and shorter videos, it takes a different leap depending on the situation. A direct setting in the surface of the player or a swipe function for fast forwarding would then have been perhaps the best solution.
