After conquering the smartphone market, the Chinese tech company Xiaomi today ventured in another popular consumer electronics sphere -- televisions.
The company has launched the Mi LED Smart TV 4. India is the country to get this device outside its home country. It has been priced at Rs 39,999 and will be available on exclusively on Flipkart.
The Mi LED Smart TV 4 comes with a 55-inch Ultra HD 4K with HDR display. It comes with a minimum bezel frameless design and is just 4.9mm thin, making it the world's thinnest LED TV. Xiaomi claims it is 38% slimmer than the Galaxy S8. It has a neon Blue aluminium alloy frame and stand with a brushed metallic back.
For sound, it features the Dolby+ DTS Cinema Audio quality and is powered by Amlogic 64-bit quad-core Mali-T830 graphics. It has 2GB RAM and 8GB internal storage.
Xiaomi LED smart TV comes with a new television UI called the PatchWall. This UI has an endless scroll of seamless content and has a universal search feature that shows search results from all the buttons. Xiaomi is also planning to launch profiles to generate recommendations. The TV comes with an 11-button remote continuing the minimal streak of the TV. The PatchWall UI also integrates the content from the set-top-box excluding the need two separate remotes or UI.
Xiaomi has partnered with Hotstar, Voot, SonyLiv, Hungama Play, Zee5, TVF among others to stream content, claiming it to come loaded with over 500,000 hours of content, 80% of which it will be free.
In terms of connectivity, it includes Dual band Wi-Fi (802.11ac), three HDMI ports, two USB ports as well as Bluetooth v4.0.
There are some limited period offers with the Xiaomi Mi TV. There is three months of free subscription of both Sony Liv and Hungama Play. Also the Mi IR cable, which makes it possible for the TV to integrate the set-top-content into the PatchWall, costing Rs 299 is also free. And finally, Xiaomi is offering free on-site installation with the Mi LED Smart TV 4.
