LG V30 2018 model with AI-based tech to launch at MWC 2018
NEW DELHI: After Samsung, Asus, Huawei and Nokia, LG too has confirmed its presence at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2018 event, which will commence on February 25 in Barcelona, Spain. The South Korean tech firm has confirmed this on its website and in typical LG fashion, has also given details on what it will be launching.

The company will have its focus on Artificial Intelligence technologies this time. These 'technologies' will be coming as a part of the 2018 version of the LG V30 smartphone. The AI in the new LG V30 will focus on enhancing the camera experience, UI experience and voice recognition.

LG V30 (2018) will be featuring 'Vision AI' in its camera. The AI is said to automatically analyze objects and suggest users the best mode in which they can shoot. The LG V30 currently has eight modes - portrait, food, pet, landscape, city, flower, sunrise, and sunset.

"The angle of view, color, reflections, backlighting, and saturation levels are all taken into consideration as the phone analyzes images in its database to determine what the camera is focusing on in order to recommend the best setting," says the firm. LG says it analysed over 100 million images to develop the smartphone's image recognition algorithm.

In addition, the camera will also be automatically scan the QR code when placed in front of it. It will also show shopping options letting users where to purchase certain products for lower price tag.

The 'Voice AI' will make voice commands even better than before. LG has worked with Google to bring 32-exclusive Voice AI commands. They can simply say 'Ok Google' followed by commands like 'take a picture on a wide angle' or 'open camera in Cine video' and more.

LG says that some of these AI-based features may also arrive in current generation devices as a part of an OTA update. "As we communicated last month at CES, the future for LG lies in AI, not just hardware specs and processing speeds," said Ha Jeung-uk, senior vice president and business unit leader for LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

The AI tech will be on display at MWC 2018.
