While many budget smartphones that fall under the Rs 10,000-Rs 15,000 come with powerful specs, handsets under Rs 5,000 don’t seem to offer too much. However, there seems to be a rush of launches in the ultra-budget segement, so one may see a change in what is expected by the Indian consumer.
Domestic handset maker Karbonn has launched a smartphone called the Titanium Jumbo 2 in India. The handset comes bundled with offers from telecom operator Airtel to give cashback to customers.
Price and availability
The Karbonn Titanium Jumbo 2 is priced at Rs 5,999 and will be exclusively available on Amazon India website. Airtel is offering a cashback of Rs 2,000, bringing down the effective price of the device to Rs 3,999.
Customers will have to make the down payment of Rs 5,999 for the device. To claim the cash refund benefit, users will need to get recharges worth Rs 3,500 within the first 18 months, after which the first refund installment of Rs 500 will be credited to the customers' account. After this, another Rs 3,500 of recharges over the next 18 months will entitle the user to the second refund installment of Rs 1,500, making the total cashback to Rs 2,000.
