LG FJ7 High Power Speaker System Review

LG FJ7 High Power Speaker System review: The power ranger
With gadgets - especially music oriented -- swiftly moving towards a "no-wire" zone, speakers of all kinds are in vogue. Be it Bluetooth speakers or powerful audio systems, the market seems to be flooded with devices offering powerful sound experience. One such offering is the LG FJ7 High Power Speaker.

This speaker is bigger and heavier than the average speaker available. Priced at Rs 27,990, it is backed by solid performance and output. We spent some time using the speaker and this is what we think of it:

Design

Weighing about 18.6 kg, the FJ7 has a plastic body with front facing red woofers which makes it an attractive piece. The plastic build feels durable lack the premium factor. There are rolling wheels at the bottom of the speakers which make it convenient to drag them around. What's inconvenient; however, are the main controls which are located at the back of the device. If you place the system in one corner of the room, it's quite uncomfortable to go behind it almost every time to change the mode or a basic setting. However, if you choose to play music just from your smartphone, there isn't any need to change any setting on the speaker.

Since the FJ7 can also be used as multi-juke box it can be put on a tripod too.

The LG FJ7 is a decent looking device, but when compared to the Sony MHC-V50D in terms of looks and design LG has a lot of catching up to do. The Sony MH -V50D has a sleeker body with controls on the top for easy access and the lights that complement the music. In case you're looking for a heavy, rugged looking speaker, this could fit the bill.

Performance

The LG FJ7 is a 2Way 2Speaker and boasts of 400W high power output. It has a 2-inch tweeter unit and a 15-inch woofer unit. The volume reaches up to 38 but you don't even have to max it out, just up to 25 would be loud enough for most people.

The sound clarity is great, bass has the punch that is required and the karaoke support lets you remove the vocals from any song with a push of a single button. The best part, however, is how you can link two speakers together wirelessly so you can have a pair at home. Also, you can connect up to three devices to manage and create a new playlist with your friends. The FM support is an added benefit but we don't see anyone using that quite often.

It has various sound settings for you to choose from when you play different genres.

But what put us off was the control system located at the back. The design of the speaker is such that you would naturally place it in a corner and not somewhere in the centre. But due to its oddly placed control keys you'll have to keep it somewhere accessible or you can use the LG Bluetooth app to control and access remotely. An additional remote control would be great but you don't even get that.

For connectivity, it has an Aux support, Bluetooth, USB port and Mic.

Verdict

All in all, the LG FJ7 was a true delight, but it depends on how much money are you willing to pay. If looks are not your first priority and seeking out a little extra isn't a problem either then the LG FJ7 is ideal for you but if you want something more stylish and has an equally good performance then you might want to consider the Sony MHC-V50D although it is priced higher than the LG FJ7.
