HTC U maybe the second smartphone in the world to support Bluetooth 5.0

HTC will launch its 2017 flagship phone, aka the HTC U, on May 16. Ahead of its scheduled unveiling in Taiwan, a new Bluetooth.org listing has confirmed that the HTC U will ship with the next-generation Bluetooth 5.0 standard. Samsung's recently launched Galaxy S8 (and Galaxy S8+) is notably the world's first smartphone to support Bluetooth 5.0, and chances are the HTC U could well be the second in line.
Bluetooth 5.0 is successor to Bluetooth 4.2 and guarantees up to four times wider range than its predecessor. At the same time, the new wireless standard allows twice the data transfer speed and offers the ability to simultaneously connect two sets of wireless devices.

As for the upcoming HTC U, the headline feature of HTC's phone is said to be Edge Sense, a touch sensitive outer frame that would react to specific actions allowing users to open an app or launch the camera app directly. Whether or not it would see a design change -- from the incumbent U Ultra -- is yet to be seen.
The HTC U will reportedly come with a 5.5-inch Quad-HD screen and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 4 gigs of RAM under the hood. It is said to come with at least 64GB of memory and a 3,0000mAh battery inside. On the camera front it is said to sport a 12-megapixel shooter. The U will also reportedly come sans a 3.5mm audio jack but water-resistance is said to be on the cards.
The USP of the incumbent HTC U Ultra is its virtual assistant, or Sense Companion that "can suggest that you dress warmer and leave a little earlier for work if snow is forecast; remind you to take a power bank on longer trips; and even recommend a restaurant when you're away for the weekend and then book seats for you2. Best of all, it's made to evolve and get to know you better over time," according to the company. Whether or not the HTC U will also retain this feature is yet to be seen.
