A new report has shed light on the model number of the upcoming Galaxy Note 8 flagship, along with its codename . This report says that the handset is codenamed “Great” internally, which is quite interesting. Further, the phone will apparently have the model number SM-N950F for the international variants.
It’s quite unusual to come across model numbers of a smartphone which is expected to launch later this year. However, given the kind of pressure thatSamsung has for the device, it’s understandable that the company has already started working on it.
The Galaxy Note 7 fiasco is still pretty fresh in our memory, which makes the success of the Galaxy Note 8 all the more important for the Korean manufacturer. There was word a few months ago that Samsung will ditch the Galaxy Note lineup altogether after the global embarrassment it faced last year.
It’s still too early to comment on the hardware specifications of the Galaxy Note 8, but one can get a better idea of the device after the announcement of the Galaxy S8 later this month. Expect there to be a curved edge display, a high-speed processor and a mammoth battery on board.
The same report also talks about Samsung selling refurbished Galaxy Note 7 units in South Korea under the model number SM-N935. It’s not known if these refurbished models of the Note 7 will be sold in other markets as well.
