The VERY Best Apple Watch Apps Thus Far

The Apple Watch release date is FAST approaching. But before you get yours, you'll want to know about apps. Here are some of the best

It is just two more days until the Apple Watch ships and when that happens many more in the world will appear to be constantly bored because they are glancing at their wrists all the time. But instead of checking to see how much time has passed these people, developers hope, will be using the latest and greatest Apple Watch apps they've spent the last six months making.
The Apple Watch could become Apple's most profitable product line ever, with gross margins exceeding 60 per cent, one market analyst has predicted,” reports The Telegraph. “The first run of the Apple Watch, which became available for pre-order on April 10, reportedly sold out within hours, leaving many customers facing shipping delays over over a month.”
Carl Howe from Think Big Analytics reckons the first run of watches was in excess of 3 million units –– 1.8 million Sports, 1.3 million Watches, and 40,000 Editions. If so, this would produce a revenue over $2 billion for the first couple of weeks of the device being available. Not bad for Apple’s first punt at a wearable.
With that in mind we've put together this growing list of the best and most promising Apple Watch apps on the market. But before we launch into our selection, it's useful to keep in mind some important distinctions between Apple Watch apps and apps on other iOS devices. For starters, Apple Watch apps are non-native. That means (besides some of the pre-installed Apple apps) the apps on Apple Watch will not work in isolation. They REQUIRE an iPhone to work.
Apple's documentation sums it up best: "A Watch app complements your iOS app; it does not replace it [...] as the wearer interacts with the Watch App, Apple Watch and iPhone pass information back and forth. Taps and other messages from Apple Watch cause code in your WatchKit Extension [e.g. iPhone] to execute."
Sure, this is a bit of a letdown but the good news is Apple has stated they are supporting native third-party apps on the Watch next year.
But fret not, between now and then there will still be a ton of awesome Apple Watch apps. To download an Apple Watch app simply download its iOS app and you'll be able to install the Watch portion of the app right from your iPhone. Here's our top Watch app picks so far.
