BookMyShow backs Townscript to enter D-I-Y online event ticketing

BookMyShow is India’s most used online ticketing platform for movies, concerts or more such events. The company yesterday announced that it has made an undisclosed strategic investment in Pune based DIY event registration and ticketing platform Townscript. With this investment, BookMyShow now has majority stake in Townscript and plans to take this platform to the next level by empowering small and medium event organisers over a marketplace model.

Townscript is operated by Dyulok Technologies, and was founded by Sachin Sharma and Sanchit Mali in 2014. The platform was aimed to provide registration and ticketing needs of small and medium scale events such as obstacle races, adventure events, conferences & exhibitions, marathons and many more. The speciality of this platform is its customer centric approach that allows any organiser to set up and manage and event’s registration and ticket in no time. It said to be one of the fastest DIY based ticketing platform and has already provided its services to over 12,000 events across the country.

Ashish Hemrajani, CEO and Co-Founder, BookMyShow said, “We discovered the perfect synergy match with Townscript and are excited to be partnering with them in their journey towards excelling in this segment. Both Sachin and Sanchit have shown great drive and have charted an aggressive growth path for the company. We are eager to share our learnings as well as market and product expertise in this space, to help Townscript continue to scale.”

Townscript is absolutely free of cost for free events and for others it follows a transaction based revenue model. It charges 3.99% + INR 10 per transaction, inclusive of the payment gateway fee. There are two different apps, one of them is for posting events (used by organisers) and other one is for ticket booking

The platform also aids discovery of events by users through SEO optimised listings, targeted email campaigns and event categorisation basis genre and location.
