Gameloft teased its newest car racing game Asphalt Xtreme several times in the last couple of weeks. The game even went live in Google Play store, but it was only available in a few countries. The game’s soft-launch last month allowed Gameloft to fine-tune Asphalt Xtreme and squash and bugs that might have ruined players’ gameplay experience.
The game is now available for the general public on Android, iOS and Windows (PC and mobile).
The off-road racing game allows users to race through multiple environments using 35 different vehicles. In Asphalt Xtreme, players can complete more than 400 events in the game’s career mode, as well as over 500 mastery challenges. Users can also compete in limited-time events. Finally, users can compete against other players in eight-player real-time multiplayer races.
As I’ve mentioned before, when the game was available only for Android and iOS, I’ve been a fan of Asphalt since the days of the non-touchscreen phones when I could type faster than my phone could process. On Android however, Asphalt never really caught up with me because while the game was cool I just don’t like the strong push at the freemium model the games include. I’d be better off paying once and for all.

Anyhow, moving onto the first impressions, when I first opened the game, it was like opening Asphalt 8. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing, Ashphalt 8 was a great racing game. Needless to say, the graphics are beautiful and there is great attention to detail. Asphalt has always been one of those games you use to check the graphics performance of a smartphone and Asphalt Xtreme sure sets some new benchmarks for future smartphones.

As usual with Asphalt, the game allows you to decide the graphic detail and other aspects in the settings, but there is also a resolution setting this time which I haven’t seen before in any game. Perhaps those heavy gamers among you may have? It’s certainly a welcome feature for those with 4K or QuadHD displays because that can affect the graphic performance.

As far as the gameplay goes, it seems like standard Asphalt affair, everything is nice and fun with a lot of improvements over the last version of the game, and I’ve gotta admit: it’s highly enjoyable. But more importantly it’s stable and bug free. There seems to be no official information available about the amount of different tracks the game features but they seem to be a lot of them, with multiple different seasons but the game features a stunning music set with various genres like “Rock, Bass, and Electro” from known producers which brings a great feel to it.

This feels like a quality game. Of course, I didn’t expect anything less from it. Let’s hope it doesn’t get ruined like the games before it by requiring a constant Internet connection while playing.
Have you played the game yet? What are your thoughts? Feel free to comment below.
