Apple’s new mystery device spotted yet again at the FCC

Apple has been submitting documents regarding a new mystery device for a while now. The Cupertino giant has made yet another filing with the FCC for the same device, albeit with a different model number. Known as A1845, this device joins A1846 and A1844 which were previously posted by Apple.

Apple has asked for permanent confidentiality for this particular product, which means we’re still pretty much in the dark about what this could be. All we know for now is the fact that it comes with Bluetooth LE and NFC. Given that the secret is still pretty much intact, there have been quite a lot of speculations as to what this could be.

The likeliest theory at the moment is that this is an iBeacon like device meant for use within Apple Stores. Apple has filed patents for similar devices in the past, so it’s not far fetched to assume that it would be something similar. This basically means that the product is meant for internal use, suggesting that we might not necessarily see this particular product being publicly launched.

Apple has been very secretive about its new products, and this is a fine example of that. Given all the facts we have on the matter, it’s really hard to know for sure what Apple is getting certified with the FCC here. One can only hope that the company comes clean on the product when the time comes, assuming it’s not only meant for internal use.

It was initially believed that this would be for a product like the Apple TV, although subsequent filings revealed wiring details that were uncharacteristic of an Apple TVlike device.
