Since just about everything is going wireless these days and even smartphones are getting rid of headphone jacks, audio gear manufacturers are launching more and more wireless headphones/earphones. We have seen some pretty amazing wireless headphones launch this year, further intensifying competition.
Popular audio peripherals maker Skullcandy recently launched their Sport Method Wireless earbuds at Rs 5,299. We spent some time with the Sport Method Wireless earbuds and here's the rest of our review.
Design
Skullcandy Sport Method Wireless earbuds come with rubbery wires attached to a FlexSport collar which sits comfortably around the neck. Usually wireless earphones just come with wires that attach one ear-bud to the other, but this one has an actual collar which helps in better wearability. The wires can be easily folded with the band when not in use.
All the control buttons are placed on the left end of the band. These include plus and minus shaped buttons for handling volume, and a Skullcandy logo-shaped button for handling calls and switching the earphones on/off. There's also a microUSB port at the bottom end of the collar for charging the Method Sport Wireless earbuds.
Personally, we think that the band is a better idea. It ensures that you don't the microphone and control keys hanging out when you're doing something. The mic is placed right below the control keys, which ensures enhanced audio clarity while making calls.

The earphones are water and sweat resistant and 3 feet of cord free Bluetooth enables you to do you work without having to carry your phone around. The device has a playback of up to 9 hours on a single charge. It has a built-in mic which helps you control all the basic tasks conveniently.
Performance
During our testing, the Skullcandy Sport Method Wireless earbuds provided brilliant overall sound delivery. The audio output is clear regardless of the genre you play. The only drawback we came across is that the bass is a little lacking when listening to upbeat music. When the volume is cranked all the way to the maximum, the highs and treble dominate as there's not enough bass to balance them out.
What's impressive about the Skullcandy Sport Method Wireless earbuds is that it fits in the ears perfectly and effectively blocks outside noise. The earbuds don't fall out of ears and their construction material is soft. There are two sizes of earcups provided.
We have seen a lot of wireless sport earphones/headphones which have the battery module placed inline with the wires. But this weight often causes the earphones to fall out of the ears during activities such as jogging. However, the battery and controls in the Sport Method Wireless are placed in the collar itself.
So when it sits around the neck, the earbuds don't fall off. The light weight is an added bonus.
Verdict
Skullcandy Sport Method Wireless earbuds are pretty great if you're not really a basshead. If we talk about design and comfort, it's hands down one of the most comfortable earphones we've tried.
But the asking price of Rs 5,299 is a bit high. If you want a little bit more bass, you can go for the Portronics Harmonics 202, priced at Rs 2,999. But if the comfort is the ultimate requirement, the Skullcandy Sport Method Wireless earbuds are really a good option.
