Lenovo K6 Note review: For those who need big battery

India is undoubtedly a booming smartphone market and if we talk about budget devices, the scope is even bigger. Brands like Motorola (now owned by Lenovo), Xiaomi and Coolpad have launched a lot of great budget handsets in the past year. From expandable storage to appreciable cameras to 4G capabilities, these have all the essential features.
Another such smartphone is the recently-launched K6 Note from Lenovo. For a budget device, it ticks nearly all the right boxes. Lenovo K6 Note is available in two variants, priced at Rs 13,999 and Rs 15,999. But how well does it perform in the real world?
We spent some time with the smartphone and here's what we think of it.
Design
Lenovo K6 Note has a metal unibody design with thin antenna lines at the back. The volume rocker and power button are placed on the right, while the dual hybrid nanoSIM card slot is on the left. The bottom has a microUSB port and two speaker grilles, while the top has a 3.5mm audio jack.
The front panel of the smartphone has a 5.5-inch IPS display with no physical buttons. There are just three capacitive navigation keys below the display. A protruding camera is located at the centre of the back panel, with the LED flash under it. There's also a fingerprint sensor below the two.
In summation, we didn't find the design of the Lenovo K6 Note to be interesting. It looks like any other budget smartphone. If it weren't for the Lenovo branding at the back, the device could be easily mistaken for a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
Performance
Lenovo K6 Note is powered by Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 1.4GHz paired with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The phone also accepts microSD cards for storage expansion. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow topped with the company's Vibe UI.
In our testing, the K6 Note did a pretty impressive job overall. Whether it's multitasking or mildly intensive gaming, it handles everything well. Same goes for random app switching, which doesn't cause the phone to lag either.
The smartphone's 16MP rear camera (with dual LED flash) performed fairly well during our testing. Moreover, the Pro mode makes configuring manual settings quite easy, preventing bad pictures. As for the 8MP front-facing camera, we found it decent enough for selfies and video chats.
The Full HD display of the Lenovo K6 Note is great for watching movies and playing graphics-intensive games. But what's truly the USP of the Lenovo K6 Note is its big 4,000mAh battery. If you're on the go all the time and need a smartphone that'll last you all day, the Lenovo K6 Note is definitely the one. There are also other devices with higher battery capacities but sometimes, they fail to perform accordingly due to improper battery optimizations. That's not the case with the K6 Note, which easily lasted us more than a day on a single charge with moderate use.
During our time with it, we found the call quality of the smartphone to be fine. However, this is something that also depends on the network coverage. The K6 Note has Dolby Atmos support for better sound delivery and the audio output with the earphones is great. There is also a built-in app that lets you configure audio settings in detail. What's not so great is playing music through the loud speakers, due to the K6 Note having an average mono speaker. So if you might not to use external speakers (wired or wireless) to make things a little better.

All in all, we found the Lenovo K6 Note to be a great budget device. Other than the slightly weaker processor, the smartphone is capable of doing all daily tasks efficiently. But if you still want more options in the same range, there is the Moto G4 Plus which has been doing really well in this segment. The newly-launched Cool 1 with its dual camera setup at the back is also a great option.
