As Apple gets closer to releasing the public version of iOS 9.3.2, more and more people believe that the jailbreaking tool for iOS 9.2.1 will never see the light of day.
There are reasons why an iOS 9.2.1 jailbreak may not happen, and one of these is that jailbreaking teams simply can’t go past Apple’s defenses or have a difficult time trying to. If this is true, this might explain why it took hacking teams a long time to create a jailbreak for iOS 9.1. Popular jailbreaking team Pangu, for example, has released its iOS 9.1 jailbreaking toolonly last March — too late for most people, who have already upgraded to iOS 9.2.1 or above and can no longer downgrade to iOS 9.1 because Apple has stopped signing it.
However, many tech experts oppose this, saying that while Apple does have excellent security in its firmware, it’s far from being invincible. In fact, there are several independent hackers who have claimed that they have jailbroken iOS 9.2.1. One of them is popular hacker Luca Todesco, who had announced on January that he had successfully jailbroken iOS 9.2.1 and even posted a screenshot of his device running on Cydia. Unfortunately, Todesco and other hackers have not revealed the tool that they used to jailbreak their Apple devices, leaving the public with no choice but to wait for hacking teams like Pangu and TaiG to release their tools.
Another reason for the delay of the iOS 9.2.1 jailbreak may be that jailbreaking teams are simply ignoring it. They may or may not already have a structure for an iOS 9.2.1 jailbreaking tool, but they might not be paying too much attention to it because they’re focused on creating a jailbreak for iOS 9.3.2. This theory is supported by several rumors, which claim that jailbreaking teams will release an iOS 9.3.2 jailbreak before Apple announces iOS 10 during the Worldwide Developers’ Conference, which will start on June 13.
So what do these all mean for Apple device owners? Basically, it all boils down to this: if you’re still on iOS 9.2.1, you can opt to a) hang on to this version and wait for an iOS 9.2.1 jailbreak to arrive, or b) upgrade to the latest iOS if you’re tired of waiting. However, if you already have upgraded to iOS 9.3 and above, your best bet is to wait for hacking teams to release a jailbreak for iOS 9.3.2.
