In 2016 the global market of tablet computers is said to be declining again. But detachable tablets are gaining a bright spot in the tablet market as they are been replaced by personal computers. A report by IDC which is a research firm said that there will be slip of 5.9% in the year 2016 regarding the sales of tablet this year. In 2015, there was a drop of 10% in sales. Once a red-hot pace in the tablet market called the “slate” has cooled off now. But the new segment of detachable tablets have shown an admirable growth in the tablet market. It bodes well for the makers of various Windows-based devices as well as for Microsoft.

This year the detachable tablets are going to see an increment of 73% in sales as per the reports of IDC. Whereas more than half of this segment is going to be taken by detachable none other than Microsoft Surface which is Windows- based. An IDC analyst named Ryan Reith said in an interview that “This momentous shift in form factor will bring along the first significant impact of Windows-based devices that the tablet market has seen.” However a steady growth is being expected by IDC as it says that the sales of detachable tablets will increase from 16.6 million shipments of previous year to 63.8 million shipments this year. New companies like Huawei and Alcatel are showing interest in this segment emerging as new entrants. The share of Android in the tablet market will be 18.2% and that of Apple will be 28.5% as said by IDC. But windows will be leading in this segment as it will increase upto 53% this year and will show a further increment of 74% or more by 2020. Now we cam say that tablets have started to mature.
