SINGAPORE - Indian mobile operator Bharti Airtel is considering listing Bharti Airtel International Netherlands (BAIN), the holding company for its Africa operations.
"The board of BAIN has authorised its management to initiate non-binding exploratory discussions with various banks/intermediates to evaluate the possibility/feasibility of listing its shares on an internationally recognised stock exchange," Bharti Airtel said in a news release. "The above discussions are at an exploratory/preliminary stage and at this juncture there is no certainty of any final decision or outcome."
Bharti Airtel owns telecoms assets in 14 African countries.
Bharti Infratel was the last Bharti Airtel subsidiary to list on Indian stock exchanges in 2012 through a Rs41bn (US$639m) IPO.
