Here are six of the best Nexus 6 cases money can buy.
The Nexus 6 is one of the most expensive Nexus phones yet, so there's a very good chance that you'll want to clad it in a decent case to ensure that any unexpected drops or bumps don't ruin your valuable investment. With that in mind, we've compiled this list of six different Nexus 6 cases, from cheap options to more premium offerings, which should hopefully help you buy the perfect case for your new phone.

More recently, I wrote a piece all about how I went from not really liking the Nexus 6 all that much, largely because of its size, to actually really, REALLY liking it mostly because of its size. Right. Let's take a look at these Nexus 6 cases.
Spigen Ultra Hybrid case (£14.99)
Spigen is one of the big names in phone case manufacturing, and its products are highly regarded by seasoned smartphone users. The Ultra Hybrid is a clear TPU case which has a rubber-like texture which protects against drops and knocks as well as providing an adequate amount of grip during use.
The power and volume buttons are covered by the case but remain easy to access, and there are cut-outs for the charging socket, 3.5mm headphone jack, camera lens and noise-cancelling microphone on the rear. Out of all the cases we've reviewed here, the Ultra Hybrid is the one we liked the most - it's cheap and offers excellent protection.
Encase Genuine Leather case (£19.99)
Leather cases are popular with smartphone owners who want to protect the front of their handset when it's not in use. This variant boasts a hard plastic case on the inside - into which the Nexus 6 clips - and a leather cover flap which is secured by a magnet so it remains closed when it's in your pocket.
On the inside of the flap you'll also find some card slots for bank cards, although it should be noted that when these are in place the case - which is already pretty chunky - becomes even bigger. The leather gives this a sense of class, and in terms of value it's certainly not a bad purchase. Our biggest reservations are that it doesn't have an auto-wake function when the case is opened, and it might make the phone too bulky to slip into your trouser pocket.
Case Mate Stand Folio Case (£24.99)
This case actually has Google's official blessing and is sold direct through the Google Play store. Like the Encase Leather case, it has a flap which closes on the front of the phone, but it's a leather-effect material and not the real thing. The bonus is that it's thinner and less bulky than the Encase option, and it comes with an auto-wake feature which turns on the display as soon as the case is opened.
You can also use the case as a stand, which is useful for making the most of the Nexus 6's massive, media-friendly screen. There are issues, however - it refuses to play nice with the Nexus 6's Ambient Display feature, so you'll have to turn that off when you're using this case. That's not a massive loss as when the case is closed you can see on-screen notifications anyway.
Encase Polycarbonate Shell Case (£7.99)
Like the Spigen Ultra Hybrid, this is a transparent clip on case. However, it's not fashioned from rubber-like TPU but hard plastic. This means it's thinner than Spigen's case, but the drawback is that it's more slippery and picks up scratches with alarming ease.
Also, because it's hard plastic, we're not convinced that it will provide all that much protection in the event of a massive drop onto concrete. Still, it's cheap and cheerful, and covers up the phone to a decent degree, keeping away scratches and bumps. The fact that it doesn't bulk up the phone will be a big bonus for many users, too.
Spigen Neo Hybrid Case (£19.99)
Spigen's second offering is a more rugged affair than the Ultra Hybrid, and comes in two sections - a hard plastic surround (silver in this case, but other colours are available) and a rubberised inner skin.
This two-tier level of protection makes this one of the most dependable cases in this roundup, but it's bulkier than the Ultra Hybrid and Encase Polycarbonate Shell, so you'll need to be sure that you have pretty big pockets before shelling out on this effort. Even so, few cases can boast that they actually add to the allure of a phone, and the Neo Hybrid does exactly that.
Case Mate Tough Nake Case (£24.99)
The second Case Mate product in this roundup, this is another case which Google itself is happy to sell via its own Google Play store, lending it an impression of quality. Comprised of two parts - a rubber bumper and a hard plastic outer case - the Tough Naked Case offers a decent degree of protection without bulking out the phone too much.
It has the added bonus of a built-in kickstand which means you can make the most of the phone's media playback capabilities. The sticking point is the price - 25 quid is a bit steep for a case which doesn't really offer much in the way of premium build; aside from the metal-effect power and volume buttons, this looks like a very basic case. However, like the name suggests, its all about subtlety rather than in-your-face aesthetics.
