Samsung and Reliance Jio to hold a joint conference at MWC 2017

Reliance Jio has made it to the headlines again, but the reason this time is not usual. According to a report from FoneArena, Samsung has today announced a joint press event with Reliance Jio at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2017. It would be interesting to see what’s cooking between both the companies, as it is quite tough to guess the actual objective of the event.

According to the invite image shared by FoneArena, Samsung has scheduled the press meeting at 8.20 am CET local time at conference room 2 of the Media Village. The event will be hosted by Jyotindra Thacker, President, Reliance Jio and Youngky Kim, President head of Network Business, Samsung Electronics.

"The objective of the press conference is to foster engagement and participation among industry leaders, governments, and communities by discussing Jio's successful 4G LTE business and how it has transformed the everyday lives of the 1.3 billion Indians. In alignment with this, we will also share the contributions made by Samsung, as Jio's solutions partner. We hope for this to benefit participants in understanding how we have and will make impacts at local and international levels for the growth of the industry," Samsung said in a statement.

To recall, Samsung was the first company to partner with Reliance Jio after its initial rollout in India. Looking at the statement given by the company, it is possible that Jio may have plans to partner with Samsung to enter international markets, with Samsung being its cellular network infrastructure provider.
