Here Oppo announces world's first 5X Dual-Camera Zoom technology

As announced earlier, Oppo held its event at MWC 2017 today announcing the all-new 5X Smartphone Photography Technology calling it the 5X Dual Camera Zoom system. The company confirmed that the new camera technology will be used in the the upcoming Oppo phones later this year.

The new camera module will help users to get an extra zoom for close up shots without getting that closer to the object. Most other smartphones come with a digital zoom feature that affects picture quality while zooming. But Oppo promises 5X optical zoom for lossless details in pictures.

The new 5X Dual Camera Zoom system a periscope like design, which the company claims will kill the extra bump on the camera module with just 5.7mm thickness. Oppo claims that the engineers have worked for a year to develop this technology, and also that the result is lossless 5X zoom, and works with Oppo's "proprietary image fusion technology for digital zoom.”

The 5X Dual Camera Zoom system stacks more than 50 parts inside the 5.7mm module. To get this working, the 5X Dual Camera Zoom diverts the light through a prism into a telephoto lens set at a 90-degree angle. Adding on top, Oppo says the OIS (optical image stabilisation) helps to keep your shots steady. We must note that it uses a dual camera setup, it has both wide angle and telephoto lens.

Mr. Sky Li, VP, OPPO, MD of International Mobile Business & President of OPPO India, said, “The ‘5x Dual Camera Zoom’ has opened up yet another realm of possibility in terms of smartphone photography, and is a reflection of our dedication to delivering on what our customers want and need - to take beautiful and clear pictures”.
