Facebook will let employers post job listings on their pages

Facebook is one of the most widely used social networks in the world. In order to leverage the massive amounts of data at its disposal, the company will now allow employers to post job applications directly on their pages. The candidates can simply click a button on their page and follow the application process directly from Facebook. It’s pretty simple, and something that could be widely utilized by employers.

User data will be gathered from the information on their Facebook profiles, thus saving time to enter all the details manually. However, applicants can choose to edit the information they send on their applications. The employers will not have to spend a dime for job postings and there is no limit on the number of listings they put up on a page. These factors will ensure that a large number of employers will depend on Facebook to find the right candidate for their job.

It will be interesting to see how Facebook will benefit from this. Given that the industry is heavily driven on profits, it makes no sense for Facebook to make this a free offering. Keeping this in mind, it’s possible that Facebook will start monetizing the service soon.

This could come in the way of LinkedIn as it basically works on connections and getting employers in touch with prospective employees. It will be interesting to see if LinkedIn will change its approach with Facebook joining the fray.
