Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9 limited edition smartphone launched

NEW DELHI: Chinese smartphone giant Huawei has launched a designer smartphone -- Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9. The smartphone is the 'Porsche' variant of its all-new Huawei Mate 9 phablet.


As the name suggests, the limited edition smartphone has been launched in partnership with luxury brand Porsche Design.

Huawei Mate 9 has an all-metal body and runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box, topped with Emotion UI layer. The phablet-class smartphone has a large 5.5-inch Quad HD display of 1440x2560 pixel resolution and sports a Porsche logo at the back.

Powering the Mate 9 is Huawei's latest octa-core Kirin 960 processor paired with 6GB of RAM (2GB more than the regular Huawei Mate 9). With dual-SIM capability, the smartphone has 256GB of internal storage which can be expanded further up to 256GB by installing a microSD card.

The USP of the Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9 is its second-generation Leica cameras. The smartphone has a dual-camera setup, comprised of a 20MP monochrome module and a 12MP colour module. In addition, optical image stabilization (OIS), a 4-in-1 hybrid autofocus system (having laser, phase detection, depth and contrast detection) is included in the mix. There's also dual-tone dual LED flash.


Huawei claims that the rear cameras support Hybrid Zoom feature, enabling users to zoom without sacrificing quality. The smartphone can also recording 4K resolution video. An 8MP front-facing camera takes care of selfies and video callingtasks.


For connectivity, Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9 offers 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and GPS. It packs a 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support.


The Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9 comes in Graphite Black colour and is priced at $1,543. The smartphone will hit European markets in late December and will be available at Porsche Design Stores worldwide in January 2017.
