NEW DELHI: It's official, Chinese smartphone maker Gionee is launching its latest smartphone S9 in China. Recently, the handset received TENNA certification and now the company has officially announced that the phone will be launched on November 15.
As per the rumours going on the internet, Gionee S9 will come with a 5.5-inch Full HD display of 1080x1920 pixel resolution, 1.8GHz octa-core CPU, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD cards. Having dual-SIM functionality, the smartphone also has a fingerprint sensor.
Other major features include a 3,000mAh battery (with fast-charging support) and 4G, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS as connectivity options. Likely to be available in Silver, Gold and Black colour options, the S9 will be Gionee's first smartphone to boast of dual-cameras.
Recently, Gionee launched its P7 Max smartphone in India. Priced at Rs 13,999, the dual-SIM device runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. It has a 5.5-inch HD display of 720x1280 pixel resolution and is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core CPU, paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There's also support for microSD cards of up to 128GB in size.
On the camera side of things, Gionee P7 Max has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing shooter. It also comes with a 3,100mAh battery.
Some of the other features baked into the P7 Max's software include auto call recording, mobile anti-theft software, smart gestures (pause alarm, black screen, smart vibration reminder, smart bright screen and double click to wake), mood wallpapers and child mode.
At its current price, Gionee P7 Max competes with smartphones such as Moto G4 Plus and Samsung Galaxy On8 in India.
