Samsung Pay is about to launch in its fifth country, Singapore, on June 16: While mobile payments aren’t anything new to Android, we are now seeing it being used more and more, and Samsung wants in on the action with Samsung Pay. Samsung Pay has been around since 2015 in the US and South Korea, and the company has been adding a number of different countries ever since. Next up is Singapore on June 16th, making it the fifth country to be added to the list.
What makes Singapore special is that usually Samsung Pay is limited to Samsung phones, but Samsung is working with local partner Singtel in Singapore that may broaden its reach. In the announcement post, Samsung says it “will be exploring potential collaborations in the mobile payment space” with Singtel. Singtel already offers a mobile payment system with their app,Dash, available on iOS and Android.
