LG K7 LTE Review: In India LG recently launched the K7 LTE and K10 LTE, from the series of its new budget that was first launched to unveiled at the CES 2016.
LG K7 LTE Review
The K7 LTE is a bit more affordable, but it comes at the cost of features and specifications. The phone goes up against the likes of the Coolpad Note 3, the base model of the Xiaomi Redmi note 3 and Lenovo Vibe K 5 plus at the price of Rs. 9,500.
LOOK and FEEL
Like its older siblings the K7 LTE is designed with the same pebble like finish and from the front, its little to tell the two apart. The curved edges of the display blend with the rest of the body, by lending the phone a nice look. To offer a good there is a milder texture at the back. Along with the proximity sensor there is a 5 megapixel front camera. LG this time decided to ditch the ambient light sensor, it means that now you have to do adjust the screen brightness manually.
The first letdowns of the K7 LTE is the 5 inch in cell touch display and it has resolution of 480/854 pixels. It results in the pixel density of just 195ppi, it makes the edges of the text and images appear jagged. However, the viewing angles are still pretty decent and so is sunlight legibility. At the bottom the charging port and the headphones socket are placed while the rest of the buttons are at the back. The latter has a spongy feel and it can be triggered accidentally while commuting.

The LG K7 LTE ships with a data cable, charger, headset and the instruction manuals. The quality of the accessories is good and they all feel durable. But, the low resolution display is the major compromise and a notification LED is also missing.
SOFTWARE and SPECIFICATIONS
- The smartphone is powered by ancient Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 quad-core SoC
- It has RAM of 1.5 GB
- Local storage of 8GB
- Wi-Fi b/g/n, FM radio, GPS and Bluetooth 4.0
- No support of USB OTG and NFC
- It has two slots for Nano-SIM cards
- It has removable battery of 2125 mAh
The software is identical with the K10 LTE and it shipped customize version of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The latter can be used to download fonts, ringtones, themes etc. The toggle that switches in the notifications shade can also be customized, that too along with the navigation bar at the bottom.
PERFORMANCE
Despite of the low-end SoC, the K7 LTE does a good job of running and multitasking apps. Heavy games, especially games take little time to load and the performance is not so great. Text and pictures are also not sharp. The phone goes warm while charging and gaming. The music player supports flac audio files and the quality of the audio is also acceptable with bundles headset. The rear camera of 5-megapixel produces acceptable images in the daylight. We were also managed to take some decently sharp images in the slow motion. Close-ups are quite decent but the sensor fails to produce good colours. At the front and rear cameras the video recording maxes out at the 720p. Quality is okay. Like the K10 LTE the camera app is minimalistic, so you will not be able to see panorama, filters, HDR and the like.
BATTERY LIFE
The K7 LTE is able to deliver a good battery life by the combination of low-powered SoC and low-resolution display, this is the only real redeeming feature of this smartphone.
VERDICT
In today’s cut-throat the LG K7 LTE feels out of place budget smartphone segment. The design and the good battery life is aside but it falls pretty much on every count. It is available at the price of Rs. 9,500 and it is simply too expensive to consider when you have smartphones like Coolpad Note 3, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus, all of them perform better and also they are less expensive.
GOOD:
- Good battery life
- 4G with VoLTE support
- Striking design and good build quality
- Dedicated microSD card slot
BAD:
- Sub-par performance
- Overpriced
- Low-resolution screen
- No ambient light sensor
