Blackberry planning to launch two mid-range Android smartphones, says CEO

In an interview with The National Chen makes the remarks and also admitted that the company’s first Android phone i.e. the BlackBerry Priv. was a very high end a product with a price-tag that was unappealing.
According to a paper Chen also quoted that the fact they came out with their first Android device which was a high end phone was not really as wise as it should have been.
He also said that a lot of enterprise customers have said them that they want to buy our phone but $700 was a little too steep for them and they are more interested to rather buy a $400 device.
The company said that they had already shipped around 600,000 smartphones till March 2016.
Makers launched Priv a touchscreen as well as a slide-able QWERTY keyboard with Android 6.0 in November last year.
With a price-tag of Rs 62,999 BlackBerry launched in January 2016 a pretty much smartphone device in the league of iPhone in India.
But at the time of the Priv’s launch many reviewers noted that the device came far very late to save the smartphone maker from struggling.
In our own review, as this was the company’s first Android phone they did the price that was quite too high this is something we felt.
It won’t be easy for Company to regain some ground by launching two Android phones of mid-range. It has to quickly make some really compelling offers.
