Motorola, or I suppose that should be Lenovo these days, looks to have a new affordable handset on its way to India and possibly parts beyond. A smartphone known as the Moto X3 has been spotted passing through the Indian import and export tracking site Zauba.
This listing doesn’t reveal too much in the way of specifications, but it does hint that the Moto X3 could launch with a 5.0-inch display and just single SIM card slot. There’s also an import price posted on the website, listed at Rs. 6,812 (approximately $102). However, this is just the import value of the device rather than a consumer price, but it gives us a rough value of what the handset’s basic costs are worth.
What’s particularly interesting about this listing is that it’s one of the first new smartphones spotted since Lenovo began merging Motorola’s mobile business with its own. This could be the first phone to keep the iconic “bat-wing” logo while also losing the Motorola brand name, as Lenovo moves to focus more on the Moto name and less on the company that it purchased. Furthermore, the Moto X3 might give us our first look at what the changes, and struggles, over at Motorola mean for the brand’s products in 2016 and beyond.
Of course, we haven’t heard anything official about the handset yet, and with testing and whatnot to do it could be a while before the Moto X3 shows up on shelves, if it ever even launches. Any thoughts on what you would like to see from a 2016 5-inch Moto handset?
