Xiaomi Redmi 5A will be on sale starting 12PM on Mi.com and Flipkart
NEW DELHI: Xiaomi has just launched its Redmi Note 5 and the Note 5 Pro but it is still keeping its popular Redmi 5A smartphone up for grabs for its Indian users today (February 15). The smartphone will be going on sale from Flipkart and as well as Mi.com. The device will be made available in Rose Gold, Gray and Gold at 12PM.

As one can see on the smartphone’s listing on the website, Flipkart will be giving 5% discount to Axis Bank Buzz credit card holders. Along with this, Reliance Jio will be giving a cashback of Rs 1,000 after a year on the purchase of Redmi 5A. Customers are required to recharge the smartphone with Rs 198 per month. There is also an EMI offer starting at Rs 243 per month.

The company launched two variants of Redmi 5A – 2GB RAM and 16GB storage and 3GB RAM and 32GB storage priced at Rs 4,999 and Rs 6,999 respectively.

Xiaomi says the highlight of the Redmi 5A is its triple card slot and Graphite cooling tech. The triple card slot, as the name suggests, supports two SIM cards and one microSD card at the same time. The Dual Graphite Sheet coating at the back keeps the temperature of the handset cooler by up to 1 degree more, claims the firm.


The Xiaomi Redmi 5A entered the Indian shores in November last year and is the successor of the Redmi 4A. The smartphone sports a 5-inch HD display with 720x1280 pixel resolution. Running Android 7.0 Nougat operating system the device is powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor.


Measuring 140.4x70.1x8.3mm, the handset comes with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage. The users can further expand the storage by installing a microSD card.


The device comes equipped with an infrared sensor like the other Xiaomi devices but it misses out a fingerprint sensor. The device boasts of a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture. There’s also a 5MP front shooter with f/2.0 aperture for selfies.


The device houses a 3000mAh battery and offers 4G, VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS as connectivity options.
