How to block spam messages on iPhone and Android devices
"Lose 10Kgs in 4 weeks," reads one message and "Hi, we have an exciting offer exclusively, to avail the offer give us missed call on 0099887655," reads another. There's no way a sane person can bear with all these pesky and unwanted attention you get from spammers. While tracking all of them and getting rid of all of them at once might not be as easy as one would think but thanks to better software updates on mobile operating systems, blocking texts and calls have become much easier.

iOS Users

For all the iOS users all you have to do is make sure your device is running on iOS 7 or later. Now go to the Message app and tap on contact. Once your chat is open you'll see 'i' icon at the top right corner. This will lead you to the spammers contact details, just scroll down a little and click on 'Block this caller'. Once you've learnt this trick, it's pretty obvious you're going to blocking a lot of people, and if you want to see how many or whom have you blocked, go to Settings and go to the Messages. Once it opens scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on 'Blocked', you will now be able to see everyone whom you've blocked, if you change your mind you can even unblock some of them.

Android Users

Most Android phones don't allow blocking contacts natively, but some of the devices like OnePlus, will let you block contacts directly from the messaging app. All you have to do is go to the message app and click on the contact. Now look for three vertical dots at the top right corner, tap on it and select which is 'People & options'. Tap on it and you'll get an option to block the particular contact. Now if you want to check the contacts you've already blocked, tap on the three vertical dots at the top right corner the first option you will see an option 'Blocked Contacts', here you can see all the contacts you've blocked so far.

Since this feature is only unique to some Android devices, there are a lot of third-party apps that can be downloaded from Google Play Store. SMS Filter, Mr. Number Spam Blocker are a few handy apps for this purpose.
