Intel India announced the launch of its Artificial Intelligence Developer Program aimed at educating 15,000 individuals - scientists, developers, analysts and engineers - on AI technologies in a bid to boost the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the homeland.Aimed at promoting AI amongst Indian developers, Intel will organise 60 programs across the year, ranging from lectures, workshops, roadshows and roundtables. The initiative aims at imparting knowledge on the basics of adoption of AI via technical sessions.
As India undergoes digital transformation, the intelligent analysis of the data collected will enable the government and the industry to make effective decisions offering increasing opportunities for using AI in the country.
“To make this happen, Intel is collaborating with Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Wipro, Julia Computing and Calligo Technologies, by enabling them with AI solutions based on Intel architecture,” said Prakash Mallya, Managing Director, Intel South Asia.
To bolster its AI credentials, Intel last month merged its AI operations into a new unit, Artificial Intelligence Products Group (AIPG). The new group will focus on the development of chips and software products related to AI and Machine Learning.
Mallya said that in India, Intel is targeting the BFSI, telecom, and e-commerce sectors, across High Performance Computing (HPC), big data, and the Internet of Things, all of which are complementary to AI. Intel India hosted its first AI Day where Industry, academia and the government discussed the potential of AI in India.
For long Central Processing Units (CPU) have been the flagship product for Intel, but now the company is expanding into the Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) space with several acquisitions. The company has strengthened its position in this space with the acquisition of AI startups like Saffron, Movidus, Nervana Systems, and Mobileye.
With control over 97% of data centre servers, Intel is poised to conquer the AI computing era through its solutions, Mallya said.
