Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+is going legitimate: Snapdragon 835, Infinity show and other specifications

Here’s a quick look at the top specifications of the Galaxy S8, S8+ smartphones.

Samsung has launched the Galaxy S8 and S8+ at its Unpacked 2017 event in New York today. Both smartphones are the company’s flagship smartphones of 2017.  Here’s a quick look at the top specifications of the Galaxy S8, S8+ smartphones.

Design, Display

The Galaxy S8 sports a 5.8-inch display while the S8+ gets a  6.2-inch display. Once again, Samsung goes with QHD+, which is a 2K display, and yes, the display panel remains Super AMOLED technology for these phones. The aspect ratio for the new displays made a drastic jump from 16:9 to 18:9, just like with the LG G6.

On the design front, Samsung is ditching the home button on the front, and instead moving the fingerprint scanner to the back of the phone. Samsung has introduced a special button on the side of the device to launch the new Bixby voice-assistant.

Both smartphones feature water and dust resistance, as well as a  Type-C USB charging port at the bottom. Finally, it is not killing off the headphone jack, just yet.

Processor, RAM and Storage

Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+ phones are powered by  Qualcomm Snapdragon 835  octa-core processor with 10nm FinFET design technology. However, it seems that some countries will be getting the Galaxy S8 with the Exynos 8895 octa-core processor.

Samsung hasn’t changed 4GB RAM on these phones, the base storage will start at 64GB. Of course, both phones offer microSD support; remember this was one of the highlight features of the S7 series.

Camera

Galaxy S8, S8+ will continue with the 12MP rear camera and 8MP front camera. Looks like Samsung hasn’t added a dual rear camera setup.

Battery

The Galaxy S8 boasts a 3000 mAh battery and S8+ has a  3500 mAh non-removable battery. Both have Type-C USB charging.
