After a not so positive response for the ‘Snapchat Story’ like new WhatsApp Status feature, WhatsApp now seems to bring back the old text status. WhatsApp a while ago, updated its app with the new Status feature which allows users to set pictures as status for 24 hours instead of the old text Status. Many users had a harsh view for that and didn’t quite like it, as a consequence of which WhatsApp seems to bring the text status back in the form of ‘About’.
In the WhatsApp beta update version 2.17.95, the company has brought back the old text status which is included in the new ‘About’ section visible on your profile. Once the update is rolled out in the regular WhatsApp version, your last text status will be visible in the ‘About’ section. The addition of the old text status in the ‘About’ section won’t essentially mean that the new WhatsApp Status feature will be eliminated, it is here to stay and you can use both the old and the new status features.
To change the new text status or to see it, you need to tap the three dots in the top right corner of the interface and go in to the setting section. Now you can see your name and profile picture along with the text that you had previously set. Tap on your profile picture and you will reach on your profile page. You can now change your text which is under ‘About and Phone number’.
The update is currently being tested with the beta users and we can expect it to be included in the regular version soon. Although there is no official announcement regarding when this new update will be rolled out.
We’ll keep you updated with more. Stay tuned!
