Latest Sony unveils Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZs 2017

Within six months from the release of Sony Xperia XZ, Sony has launched the next iterations of the series at MWC 2017. Xperia XZ Premium comes with top of the line specifications like Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, 4K display, etc. On the other hand, Xperia XZs will be powered by a last year's flagship chip, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium Specifications

Sony went on an all out specifications blitz with the new Xperia XZ Premium. Xperia XZ premium is an IP68-water & dust resistant body with a 5.5 -inch 4K IPS LCD panel on the top. The display supports HDR imagery which means the color reproduction on it will be top notch. To make customer's life easy, Sony partnered with Amazon to offer 4K HDR content.

The unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 coupled with Adreno 540 GPU will power this device. In the storage segment, it comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage that can be expanded via a microSD card upto 256GB. It runs on the Android 7.0 Nougat.

The most intriguing part of the phone will be its new 'Motion Eye' camera. The camera on this phone houses a 19MP ExmorRS sensor that can shoot slow-motion videos at 960fps in 720p resolution and 4K videos at 30fps. To put in perspective, iPhone 7 shoots slow-motion videos at 240fps in 720p resolution. Sony has also retained the triple sensor focusing system from its predecessor Xperia XZ. On the front, it comes with a 13MP camera sensor.

A 3,230mAh battery will fuel the device and support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 makes sure the battery can be charged in no time. Connectivity features include Single/Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.2, aptX, GPS and NFC. The phone also comes with USB 3.1 and USB Type C 1.0 reversible port, with support for USB Host.

It will be available in two colors: Luminous Chrome and Deepsea Black.

Xperia XZs Specifications

Sony may not want to wait till Snapdragon 835 is commercially available, so it might have decided to launch the Xperia XZs in early April with Snapdragon 820. It is an IP68-water & dust resistant body with a 5.2-inch Full HD display on the top. It sports the same front and rear camera as Xperia XZ. While other specifications remain same, a smaller 2900mAh battery fuels the device.
