Latest Samsung Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 (2017) launched in India, comes with IP68 certification

Samsung India has today unveiled two of the Galaxy A-series smartphones, Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) in India. The smartphones were unveiled earlier in Russia ahead of CES 2017 in January. The company has decided not to roll out the smaller Galaxy A3 (2017) for now.

The highlight of these smartphones is its enhanced cameras, revived design language and the IP68 certification. The camera this time comes with a better low-light optimisation and has a simplified camera UI in comparison with the 2016 models. Unlike the older models, the new A-series smartphones come with a USB Type-C port for data syncing and charging. Both the phones come with dual-SIM support. 

Galaxy A series was first launched in 2015, aimed at different price segments. The three phones come in three different screen sizes and configurations. 

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) comes with a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED ‘always on’ display. Powered by an Exynos 7880 clocked at 1.9 GHz paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage, expandable up to 256GB via microSD. The rear camera is 16MP with f/1.9 aperture and the front camera is also a 16MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture. It runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) OS on top of Samsung’s own UI. It has a bigger 3200mAh battery to keep the phone running all day long.

The Galaxy A7 (2017) has the similar specifications as the Galaxy A5 (2017). The distinct factors include a bigger 5.7-inch display full HD Super AMOLED display and the battery is upgraded to 3600mAh.

Price and availability

The Galaxy A5 (2017) is priced at Rs. 28,990, while the Galaxy A7 (2017) is priced at Rs. 33,490. Both the phones will be available in Black Sky and Gold Sand colour variants. 

Both smartphones will go on sale from March 15 onwards, and the pre-booking begins from March 6 (Monday) via the Samsung E-Store as well as offline retailers.
