Tech outsourcing and cloud management services provider SD Squared (SD2) has launched a new product that will enable users of Amazon Web Services (AWS) to pre-pay for their use of the cloud platform, a first according to the company.Sachin Duggal, founder, SD2, told ET that the new service, Clou dOps.ai was a step towards the long-term aim of building a billion dollar enterprise. A second similar platform aimed at the software developer ecosystem would be launched later this year.
Set up four years ago by serial entrepreneurs Duggal and Saurabh Dhoot, SD2 has been growing at an average CAGR of 180% since launch and is on track to hit revenues of $25 million this year. Duggal said the aim was to grow to ten times that size over the next five years, and the new platform was an important step towards achieving that. He said the company was among the largest partners for AWS in Asia, buying upfront from them and then providing metered cloud usage to companies at a discount.
The current focus for the company is to tie up with carrier partnerships as it feels that operators are missing out on the opportunity to sell the cloud to small and medium enterprises.
“With the Upfront cloud wallet, customers can prepay into the wallet and this gets integrated with real time billing and they'll get an alert when they reach their limit," said Duggal.
