5 myths about the Nokia 3310

Nokia 3310

There are rumours that HMD owned Nokia is planning to launch Nokia 3310 in a new avatar. The company sold over a hundred million devices back in year 2000 and might be planning to bring back the smartphone. But according to a recent report , it will be a feature phone.
The Nokia 3310, being a feature phone, clears several things. For example you cannot expect a feature phone to have a big touch screen. If it did, it will cease to offer the very benefit a feature phone has -- great battery life.
So here are five myths that are doing the rounds on internet, be it in the write-ups or renders --
It will run on Android
Nokia 3310 is a feature phone and it will not be expensive. You need a fair amount of hardware to run complex software like Android, which will make the phone expensive.  Nokia 3310 is a feature phone that is made with bare minimum hardware required to make calls.
It will run WhatsApp or Facebook
For that you need to first ask, which OS will Nokia 3310 have? The Symbian S40 developed by Nokia was the most advanced OS for features phones when Nokia bid adieu to smartphones. It supported WhatsApp and it does so now. But if 3310 does run the S40, Whatsapp is said to end support on such device by June this year.
But the Nokia 150 feature phone launched by HMD's Nokia in December 2016 run on S30 and that does not support WhatsApp. Or Facebook. Or Snapchat.
It will have a touch screen
Though in 2017 it might feel out of place, but unlike a smartphone it can last for days so you can rely on it as a second device to make calls like some of us already do.
So might have a colour display instead of the old black and white screen with a larger size. But Nokia 3310 will not be a touch screen phone that eats up battery charge.
The phone will be cheap
If you believe the rumour that Nokia 3310 is coming, you would also need to believe that it will cost about Rs 4,000 (50 Euro), because both originate in the same source.
It will be same as the old 3310
At that price you can still expect Nokia 3310 to have some advanced features. Like, it is expected to come with 4G VoLTE network support, a rear camera, Bluetooth, new color options and, possibly, a torch light. It will also be slimmer and lighter, but it is already so small we think it doesn't matter.
