Web testing platform BrowserStack that counts Twitter, Microsoft, AirBnB, Mastercard among customers will be focusing on mobile application testing domain where the Mumbai-based company sees a huge opportunity.
The six-year-old company that already generates over $10 million annual recurring revenue, according to data received from iSPIRT, plans to invest $5-15 million in their product and expansion over the next couple of years.
“In the past one year, we have seen a huge demand in mobile app testing platform," said Ritesh Arora, cofounder of BrowserStack.“We get at least 50 enquiries every week from customers including the large ones, the likes of Twitter, Hike and Microsoft, asking for infrastructural support at mobile app testing level."
BrowserStack provides a platform that can help developers visualise their code and test its performance across different platforms. The behaviour of a piece of code might vary depending on the underlying browser or the operating system it's being run on.
BrowserStack's platform offers a virtual environment for development where say a developer running a code on Apple's Macintosh operating system using a Safari browser can test the performance and output of the same code on Microsoft's Window's OS using a Google Chrome browser. Founded in 2011 by IIT Bombay alumni Ritesh Arora and Nakul Aggarwal, the company now has about 76,000 paying customers and more than 1.6 million registered developers spread across 135 countries.
Arora said that though the company started as web browser testing platform, in the past few years, mobile app testing had grown into a much bigger space that is expected to grow faster and has a larger paying capacity, citing as the reasons to focus the company's development efforts towards mobile.
The company that set up an office in Dublin last year has announced its plans to set up and operationalise Mobile Data Centre in Dublin this year. BrowserStack intends to increase the Mobile Data Centre capacity by 4-5 times from current level in next couple of years.
