“Based on the representation received from cab aggregators, we have sought clarification from the state government. Until then, the ride-share services can continue,“ MK Aiyappa, commissioner, transport department said.
He, however, did not specify the period of extension. Around the end of January, the department had deemed ridesharing services as illegal after drivers raised this issue during a grievance meet. When the cab aggregators refused to withdraw these services, the department went on to seize at least 30 cabs. The aggregators, then, sought time to comply with rules.
