Over 3 million Redmi 3S Units sold in India in less than 6 months: Xiaomi

Chinese handset manufacturer Xiaomi has been making strides in India recently. The company, which just launched the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 in the country, has announced that it has managed to sell over 3 million units of Redmi 3S smartphones- Redmi 3S, Redmi 3S Prime and Redmi 3S Plus models in less than six months in India. 

According to IDC’s quarterly smartphone tracker data for fourth quarter of CY2016, Xiaomi became the number two smartphone vendor in India, and the company has attributed success to that of Redmi 3S series.

"Xiaomi climbed up to 2nd place with 10.7 percent share in CY Q4 2016 against 3.3 percent share in the same period last year. Year-on-year shipments grew threefold while sequential growth was 15.3 percent in CY Q4 2016. Xiaomi also expanded its retail presence with the launch of an exclusive model for offline channels in CY Q4 2016," IDC said in its quarterly release. 

Also, the company stated that it has attained first position in the online space during the same time period. 

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 in detail 
The handset comes with a deca-core MediaTek helio X20 processor paired with 2/3GB of RAM and a Mali T880 MP4 GPU. 

The device comes with 16/64GB of internal storage which can be expanded with the help of a microSD card (up-to 128GB). The device has a 2.5D 5.5-inch fullHD display, with a resolution of 1080x1920, translating to a pixel density of 401 ppi. 

On the connectivity front, the device supports 4G LTE, GPRS, 3G, 2G, GPS/A-GPS, Glonass, Bluetooth 4.1 and microUSB for data transfer and charging. On the imaging front, the Redmi Note 4 features a 13MP rear camera with an aperture of f/2.0 and phase detection auto-focus. On the front, there is a 5MP sensor with a wide angle lens that Xiaomi claims has a field of view of 85 degrees. 

The device is powered by a mammoth 4,100mAh battery. Going by the impressive battery performance of its predecessor, the battery should easily last a day of moderate to intensive use.
