OnePlus 5 with ceramic build, dual-edge curved display reportedly in making

Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is gearing up to launch its next flagship offering called OnePlus 5. If you are wondering where the number four went from the series, it is said that the number four is considered unlucky in its homeland China. So the company may skip it this time.

According to a report from South Korea, the design language of OnePlus 5 is inspired from Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, i.e., a dual-edge curved display. OnePlus may ditch metal for Mi Mix like ceramic to build this phone. As expected, the phone is expected to come with top of the line specifications.

Moreover, a 16MP front camera and a 23MP rear camera is expected to be featured on this phone. In the storage department, it may stick to 6GB RAM. However, there are speculations that it will be the first phone to use 8GB RAM on a smartphone, and the internal storage will also get an upgrade to 256GB.

There is uncertainty on the SoC that will power OnePlus 5, as Samsung has already started ramping up production of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ with Snapdragon 835, which may force OnePlus to use last year's flagship chipset, Snapdragon 821. If it turns out to be true, OnePlus may launch OnePlus 5T at the end of the year with Snapdragon 835. There is also a possibility that it may wait till Snapdragon 835 is available, which may delay the launch of the phone. In context, OnePlus 3 is launched on 14 June 2016, so if OnePlus waits for the arrival of SD835, the launch may be delayed to the end of July or it may reintroduce invite method to launch in June itself. We need to wait for few more weeks to get better insights on the phone
