After unveiling the HTC U series in international markets in January, the company has finally unveiled the smartphones today in India. The two smartphones marked under the U series are dubbed as the HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play . While the high-end U Ultra has been priced at Rs 59,990, its smaller sibling, the U Play is priced at Rs 39,990.
TheHTC U Ultra comes has a 5.7-inch display, whereas the U Play has a smaller 5.2-inch display. The highlight of both the smartphones is the Sense Companion AI, which learns the user’s daily patterns to provide usage recommendations and advice.
The phones come with four ‘always-on’ low-power microphones inside which can respond to every command. The U Ultra also come with a secondary ticker display above the main screen that is a window to the Sense companion. Another highlight is the phone capability of prioritising notifications delivered to users in a discreet way without lighting the screen and can also learn it depending on time and usage.
The two phones are said to come with a one-of-its-kind biometric voice unlock and control mechanism so users can securely unlock their phone without even interacting with it.
HTC U line-up come packed in a new design which as per HTC is the liquid design, made up of glass and aluminium that boasts of an all-around symmetrical bending that reflects light differently when viewed at an angle.
The U Ultra and the U Play also come with sonar-based audio system -- called U-Sonic -- over headphones that is claimed to deliver true sound that is also capable of adapting to the user. Both the phones come without a regular 3.5mm audio jack and have a single USB Type-C out for charging, data syncing and high-res audio.

It comes with a 5.7-inch Super LCD 5 display with QHD (2560x1440p) resolution with Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. It also has a secondary display that comes with 150 x 1040 resolution. The secondary display runs HTC’s much talked about Sense Companion AI platform. It shows notifications and email alerts and more.
HTC U Ultra is powered bySnapdragon 821 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. It comes with 64GB of built-in storage along with support for microSD up to 128GB. Camera optics include a 12MP UltraPixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and Optical Image Stabilization. On the front, it has a 16MP camera with UltraPixel mode. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with a skin of HTC sense on top.
Connectivity options includes USB Type-C, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. It is powered by a 3,000mAh battery along with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
