Three Android smartphones alongside a reincarnated version of Nokia 3310 have been launched at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. HMD Global, the Finnish company with exclusive rights to market Nokia-branded phones, looks to bring the iconic brand back on its feet.
Nokia has announced a new Nokia 3310, a tribute to the iconic phone of 2000s. The coloured-screen phone relies on 2.5G connectivity, and is powered by the S30+ operating system. It even comes with a 2MP camera on the rear. HMD says the phone has up to a month’s standby time and delivers more than 22 hours of talk time. It also comes with the modern version of the classic game Snake pre-loaded. It will be priced at €49.
The Nokia 6 – first launched in China in the beginning of this year – will be launching in many more markets. It will be joined by Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 smartphones. All of the phones will be running the latest version of Google’s Android mobile operating system, meaning the phones will get monthly security updates and come equipped with Google Assistant.
Nokia 6 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 16-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front camera, 3,000mAh battery, and Android 7.0 Nougat. Nokia 6 is priced at €229. The company also announced Nokia 6 Arte Black, a special edition handset that bumps the specs but costs €299 and comes in a gloss black finish, like the iPhone 7 Plus.
Nokia 5, meanwhile, features a 5.2-inch HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 2GB of RAM, 13-megapixel rear camera, and 8-megapixel camera with autofocus. It is priced at €189. Nokia 3, on the other hand, comes with a 5.-inch HD (720p) display, MediaTek 6737 , 2GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, 8-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front camera. Nokia 3 costs €139, and is aggressively priced.
All these smartphones have built from a solid block of aluminium. The Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 have a full metal body, which the Nokia 3 gets a polycarbonate shell on the rear. The Nokia 6, 5 and 3 will all be launching in Q2, pricing and availability is still to be confirmed.
