As with most gadgets, wearable tech should get the latest updates automatically but you can also manually upgrade and install the latest software. With the release of Android Wear 2.0, we show you how to update Android Wear smartwatches. Also see: Best smartwatches 2017.
How to update Android Wear: Manual upgrade
• Swipe down from the top of the screen.
• Swipe from right to left until you see Settings and tap it.
• Scroll to the bottom and click About.
• Scroll down and tap System updates.
• Swipe from right to left until you see Settings and tap it.
• Scroll to the bottom and click About.
• Scroll down and tap System updates.
If an update is available, the device will download and install it. Otherwise you’ll see ‘System is up to date’. An update notification will happen if your watch is connected to the charger and is within Bluetooth range of your phone. Your smartphone also needs an internet connection.
Remember that even though a new version of the software may have been released, you may need to wait hours or days until it’s available for your device so be patient and keep trying.
If you’re not sure what version of Android Wear your smartwatch is running then follow the above instructions up until step three. In the About section of the settings menu, tap Versions.
The first watches to run Android Wear 2.0 will be the Huawei Watch 2 and LG Watch Sport and Style. Find out how to update your watch with the Android Wear 2.0 Developer Preview.
