Facebook users can now get detailed weather info

Facebook has been testing the idea of displaying weather results within its dedicated app for quite some time now. The social media giant has now announced that the feature has been rolled out for a large majority of the global population. The weather information can be accessed from the “More” menu on the app. Here, you will find detailed weather reports (highs and lows) for the same day as well as the next few days.

There’s a cool little graphic on top, which changes based on the weather around you. Users can also opt to receive weather notifications from the app. The information is gathered from weather.com , so you’re getting it from a pretty reliable source. It is said that Facebook is looking to give you daily weather updates on top of your news feed, which is something that was being tested a year or so ago.

While Facebook will display the weather for your location by default, you can check the forecast for other cities as well. However, unlike standard weather apps, you will not be able to scroll through different cities from one screen. Instead, you will have to manually change the location and check the weather for that city, and so on. This is a bit of an inconvenience, but we can easily ignore this as all this is happening inside a heavily packed social networking application.

It is said that the idea behind implementing this feature is to ensure that the users stay hooked onto the Facebook app. By offering important information on the happenings around them, as well as the weather, the company has surely succeeded in doing that so far.
