Amkette Trubeats S50 smart speaker review: True for the price

If you are a music lover, you would know that just having a pair of headphones isn't enough. There are times when you just need to hear music out loud. And that is where Bluetooth speakers come in handy.

Amkette recently launched its Trubeats S50 smart speaker at a price of Rs 4,999. The speaker is also available on Amazon at a lesser price (Rs 3,499). We spent a few days with the speaker, and here's the rest of our review:

Build and design

As far as the look and feel of Amkette's new speaker go, we really like them. The Black coloured speaker's front is dominated with a metallic grille and has the Amkette logo on bottom right corner.

The top, which is made of a rubber-like material, has five small silver buttons on it including Play/Pause, volume rocker (that can also be used to change tracks) and mode change button There's also a tiny microphone to receive calls.

The sides of the speaker have a metal frame that is polished and shiny, complementing the speaker's overall look. If you turn the device around, you'll see another speaker grille along with a panel that has a 3.5mm audio jack, a USB port, a microUSB port and a button to switch the speaker On/Off.
Overall, we really liked the look and feel of the Amkette Trubeats S50. Despite being affordable, it looks premium.

Specifications

The Trubeats S50 has 10W speaker drivers and has a frequency range of 180Hz-20KHz. It has a number of connectivity options including Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack, microSD slot and USB. NFC support is there as well.

Performance

We were quite happy with the overall performance of the Amkette Trubeats S50. Connecting it to our (Android) smartphone wasn't a problem at all. The phone immediately recognizes the speaker as a Bluetooth device and pairs with it.

This also reminded us of the experience we had with Amkette's Trubeats Sonix, which was pretty seamless too. This as an upside, as not all Bluetooth speakers have easy connectivity.
We used the speaker for a few days and found its sound output to be really good. We turned up the volume and to our surprise, the output did not deteriorate even on high volume levels. But on maximum volume level, the audio output does get a bit muffled.

The Trubeats S50 is good enough to fill a room and won't disappoint if you use it for a small party.

We played music from different genres, and almost everything sounded good on the Trubeats S50. The speaker handles bass pretty well. The highs, lows and mids are good too.

Amkette Trubeats S50's 3,600mAh battery lasts really long. During our testing, it ran through an entire day before needing recharging. So that's definitely a plus.

Verdict

Overall, we were happy with the Trubeats S50. It's very good as far as the aesthetics go, and so is the performance. The speaker can handle music even on high volume levels and the battery is another upside. At a price of Rs 4,999, it surely wouldn't disappoint you.
