Classic Racing Games for Android

Latest Govt. Jobs 22:05:00 Android Games Edit
racing

I have been a speed demon since I got my first tricycle for Christmas, so it stands to reason that some of my favorite games have to do with hurling down the highway or race track at death defying speeds. Check out these free racing and driving games. There are several different styles of racing to accomodate every road warrior out there.

Tiki Kart 3D

Tiki gods just wanna have fun. And, inside a volcano, go-cart racing apparently ranks high on the fun list. Tiki Kart 3D is a game that lets you pick a god, and drive his cart in a circuit of winner-take-all races. The setting, characters and mischief make the game a worthy download.
Choose your god from the initial screen (they all look like idols carved from wood come to life) and learn their carts’ special abilities, like extra boost when you ride over a spring. Then, you’re off to the races. The game provides practice runs before a race, so you can get familiar with the controls — touch the screen to accelerate, and tilt your device to steer. It’s worth using these tutorials, as you’ll race faster with a little experience, and finishing in the top positions of a race unlocks new courses.
As you might expect from Tiki idols, there’s a lot of hijinks on these highways. The other racers have weapons — like oil and rockets — that they’ll use against you. Fortunately, if you snatch pineapple power-ups during a race, you can also obtain these tools and things like power boosts that will slow other drivers and speed you up. The courses themselves include crazy loop-the-loops and other challenges, which turn the view temporarily upside down. A great tropical soundtrack keeps you bouncing along.
Racing-game fans and kids will enjoy this light-hearted romp with the gods. And, National Geographic explorers will be excited to learn what really goes on inside a volcano.

Reckless Racing

The game takes after some popular classics found in old arcades with its bird’s-eye view and
extra-sensitive controls. It’s set up in a dirt rally format with dirty cars and even dirtier characters. Using one of the five control schemes available, you will be sliding your way through the mud to the finish line. The game comes with a single player and multiplayer with an online option which made for
some great replay value. Though the single player boasts a few different modes to try out,
the multiplayer only offers two to pick from.

Reckless Racing 2

After taking a detour in the series with From a visual standpoint, the game seems to lose a tiny bit of the charming off-road themes prevalent in the original, instead favoring green landscapes and paved roads. You’ll find that dirt-roads are still present, though less often this time around. The graphics themselves are detailed: dust kicks-up from beneath your car as it power slides into a corner.
Of course what is a racing game without cars? 18 detailed cars are on offer and all are fully customizable by the player. A number of of upgrades are available for each vehicle ranging from body-kits to engines, and these can be visually customized too. It’s a virtual garage in your pocket. You can then take your custom cars onto the road, selecting from 24 different routes. With a number of options and game modes from which to choose, Polarbit’s sequel delivers on every front. If you love racing (heck, if you like games in general), I highly suggest you pick up this gem.

GT Racing 2

The game boasts more than 100 real-life cars from 25 different manufacturers. According to Gameloft, you have as many as 14 different courses to race them on and even some urban and rally tracks. This a multiplayer game in which you can duke it out with as many as five other people online. Like many other Gameloft titles for the Android platform, this game is not available in the marketplace and can only be found in their online store.

TurboFly HD

TurboFly 3D is a fast paced futuristic racing game. Based on the design of the ships and how they move, the game almost reminds me of Star Wars-style pod racing. This game features five different ships and there are several different kinds of weapons and power-up boosts available for each. The point of this game is to win as many races as you can. If you are successful, you can unlock many more picturesque racing courses and ships. Choose to play in three different gaming modes, either “normal,” “pursuit” or “endurance.”

Speedx 3D Free

Stay seated while playing the free, ad-supported version of this 3D tunnel racing game. Te high-speed, brightly colored, spinning graphics might make you dizzy. The setup is simple. Drive as fast as you can through a twisting, turning tunnel. Avoid the obstacles that come out of nowhere as you haul buns down the tube. Tilt your phone from side to side, using the accelerometer to steer.Your pulse might end up racing as fast as your vehicle in this addictive game.

Raging Thunder 2 PLAY

This well-reviewed 3D racing game goes HD in this release, targeting Android-based tablets like the Galaxy Tab or Motorola Xoom. Trick out your ride before taking on challenging tracks across beautiful landscapes like a tropical beach, snowy mountains, ancient temples, the Great Wall and other destinations around the world.Watch your speed over the speedometer, tap the brake, or draft cars in front with just the touch of a button. A transparent map of the course shows you where you are at all times.

Need For Speed: Most Wanted

Need For Speed: Most Wanted puts players in the driver’s seat for lots of street races, police chases and online battles. Need For Speed packs some awesome graphics for most Android devices, for a start. It includes 35 different cars that you can earn and drive along the way. There’s a single-player campaign, as well as a multiplayer one that lets you challenge friends and other players all over the world. The app also includes both touch and tilt controls, which is something players asked for after the last iteration of the Need For Speed series. Racing game fans will want to check out Need For Speed, as well as fans of the series and the console versions of the game. If you want to flex the graphical capabilities of your device, this is a good game with which to do it.

Riptide GP2

Jump on a jetski and race against other people, controlled either by artificial intelligence or other players, in Riptide GP2. Most racers focus on roads, even those that put players in hovering vehicles set in the future. Riptide GP2, however, puts players on a jet ski and puts them on water-based tracks filled with hazards and other jet skiiers. The game features high-speed gameplay and great graphics, with an in-depth single-player racing campaign for players to work through. There’s also an online multiplayer mode, allowing players to take on other players from around the world in four-player multiplayer matches. There’s also an all new stunt system to allow players to flex their point-grabbing skills, nine new vehicles for you to unlock to play through, and achievements and leaderboards through Google Play Games. If you like racers with the added challenge of dealing with waves and tides, check out Riptide GP2.

Sailboat Championship

Sailboat Championship by Infinite Dreams is a game that’s all about racing sailboats around various courses, and stands out with some great graphics and realistic-looking water. Sailboat Championship hits big with players by being pretty beautiful, first and foremost. In a game about racing boats, water movement and weather effects are important, and Sailboat Championship uses your device’s hardware to do a great job of rendering both. It also packs some well-built, effective controls that make the feel of sailing come through the game well, which makes the racing challenging, but satisfying. The game has players taking on computer-controlled opponents on a number of courses and race types.

Slingshot Racing

Top-down racer Slingshot Racing isn’t about steering and braking. It’s all about using slingshot timing to launch cars around curves at breakneck speeds. Racing in Slingshot Racing is both extremely easy and difficult to master. Rather than managing your throttle and braking in order to win races, you gather speed by slingshotting around posts positioned at the curves in the track. Doing so requires only one control – tap to fire a tether at a nearby post and tap again to release it. Your speed and steering are determined by your timing for releasing your tethers. Slingshot Racing also includes four-way multiplayer on a single device. Racing fans looking for a different kind of control experience should check out Slingshot Racing.

Steampunk Racing 3D

If you can’t tell from the name, Steampunk Racing 3D is a racing title that uses a “Steampunk” art style and sports solid 3-D graphics. The primary thing that makes Steampunk Racing fun is the design of its vehicles. Steampunk is an art style noted for the inclusion of things like wood structures, brass piping and pressure gauges, so the vehicles of Steampunk Racing look like they could be more scientific versions of something you might have seen in 1890. That means you’ll fly around tracks in buggies and trucks from when cars were young, and you’ll also attack opponents with special weapons, as well. Steampunk Racing includes 16 tracks and more than 30 weapons, as well as a single-player mode and a six-racer multiplayer mode. If you like racing titles with a bit of a different graphical flare – and the ability to blow up your opponents – check out Steampunk Racing 3D.

Jet Car Stunts

This came costs ~US$1.74 and is a 3D driving game with all sorts of impossible driving environments you maneuver through with your “half jet, half car”. Controlled by the accelerometer, has 3 game modes (platform – where you just try to get to the end, time trial – where you try to get there as fast as possible, and tutorial – where you can learn tips that will help you play the other modes).

Light Racer 3D

What’s kind of great about Light Racer 3D is that you can choose to play with living, breathing human beings or with a computer opponent. This game quickly becomes more challenging and fast-paced as time in the game progresses, which, in my opinion, is what makes this so addicting. The more you’re blown into a million pieces, the more you want to hop back onto your bike and try again. The 3D graphics aren’t the best I’ve ever seen, but they are very easy on the eyes.

Wave Blazer

The biggest benefit of driving a boat versus a car is the speed. There’s no limit out on the water, and speedboat racing is one of the most thrilling sports there is. Wave Blazer is a great mobile representation of boat racing, with multiplayer options that let you play iOS gamers as well. With 3D graphics and a handful of single player game modes, you can race courses all around the world, pitting yourself against a live person in an online face-off, or the AI as a way to improve your score. Wave Blazer is also optimized for the Xperia PLAY.

Breitling Reno Air Races

An official game from Breitiling, this airplane racing game is based on the national Championship Air Races that take place annually in Reno, Nevada. Pilots across a number of categories come to compete in the desert. You’ll need more than just speed to be a winner in the Reno Air Races, as each plane requires a different skill set. Choose your aircraft, from warbirds to jets, and race with full 3D graphics and weather effects. The game supports gyroscopic and touch controls, so this is one you can really get into.
